The key challenge for repositioning the Rundle Mall Precinct is identifying the particular areas within the Precinct that could act as a catalyst for wider change.

Rundle Mall itself requires significant attention being the heart of the Precinct. However, there are a number of laneways which not only feed Rundle Mall but a number of adjoining precincts. Collectively, Rundle Mall and these laneways have not yet reached their full potential in offering diverse experiences for Rundle Mall users. Based on the detailed investigations of this Master Plan and many other associated reports the following priority areas have been identified to reposition Rundle Mall Precinct:
